  • Good News Thursday

Could the weather be any more wooftastic? Mama and I just got back from a nice long walk, and we have so much good news to share, we had to write today instead of our usual Friday post.

First, we've got some fun events coming up:

August 17, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Where the Wild Dogs Are Flyball Tournament, Herbert C. Young Community Center, Cary
Did you know there are team sports for dogs? Flyball is one of them, and it's sort of a relay/obstacle/fetch game all in one. If you want to check it out and get some treats from us, stop by the tournament this Saturday! Click here to learn more.

August 31, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. APS of Durham Dog Wash, Bull City Car Wash, Durham
Reasons you should bring your pup to the APS of Durham Dog Wash:

    1. Your dog has the kind of grime that only romps at the dog park/doggy daycare/state park trails can produce. The fun and friendly APS volunteers can remove that hard earned fun-filth, and make your pup squeaky clean. And the nice humans will be giving your dogs Barley Labs treats while they're getting washed!

    2. You love APS. This event helps raise funds for this amazing group that tries to find animals their fur-ever homes. We'll be doing our part as a sponsor and donating 25% of our total sales of Barley Labs treats during the event to APS.

    3. You want swag. Sure, it's a dog event, but we here at Barley Labs are all about treating both dogs and their fabulous humans. Thanks to the amazing generosity of some of our local biz friends, we'll be raffling off a basket with goodies for both your dog AND you! If you have the winning ticket, you'll get a $25 gift certificate to Fullsteam, a bag of delicious Bean Traders coffee, a bag of Barley Labs dog treats and a Barley Labs pint glass and bottle opener. The proceeds from the raffle go to APS.

Second, we found out that last week's APS Dog of the Week Sully was adopted! His new mama posted a comment on our blog letting us know the good news, and we couldn't be happier for them. It sounds like Sully is going to have quite the amazing fur-ever home!

Speaking of the APS Dog of the Week, let's meet this week's handsome pup, Bosco!

    Name: Bosco

    Breed/Gender: Lab-Hound mix/Male

    Age: 7-8 months old

Personality: Smart, food-focused and eager to please – he always looks to his people for direction. He’s very playful – he likes to chase a ball, loves his toys, and is good with other dogs. Bosco will be a fun addition to an active, committed family.

    APS Kennel: 7

Barley's thoughts: Interesting...very, very interesting. You look to your people for direction. I look in my people's general direction when they have something that smells delicious in their hands. Does that count? I'm looking at my mama right now, and while her face says, "not really" her heart says, "close enough." Bosco, you sound like a dream dog! If you want to be the lucky family to love and play with Bosco for many years to come, be sure to head to APS today!

Learn more about Bosco on the APS of Durham website or on his blog. If you're interested in adopting Bosco, contact doginfo@apsofdurham.org. To view a list of other dogs in need of a good home, visit the Adoptable Dogs section of the APS Durham website.

And finally, we have to put in yet another plug for the Intuit Small Business Big Game contest. Please remember to vote daily, and help us win an ad that will air during the Super Bowl!

    Woofs & Love!
